Sister wanted to eat here for her birthday. Ordered the rijsttafel as that allowed us to try tapas version of many of the dishes. Also got the lumpia, cumi goreng, udang goreng, and sage udang. Personally, I enjoyed everything. There were maybe two dishes in the rijsttafel that had too much salt but other than that everything was great and tasty. Was seated right away. And sat outside as the weather was nice. Service was fine as well. Very friendly as well. Wouldn’t mind coming back and ordering the bigger versions of some of the rijsttafel.

The food was great, yeah very much! Every single dish has its own story to tell, i could definitely feel the mother’s touch for their own home food. I can’t believe i found out this place just now after 9 years living in Brooklyn. The owner is definitely not into promoting. It’s already been here for quite a time but i still want them to stay even longer. I will come back!

We come to Java all the time for delicious Indonesian food, but this was our first time trying the Rijsttafel and it was incredible! The multi- course meal was so full of flavor, from the opening chicken soup to the EIGHT curries during the main course. The service was sincere and warm. An amazing value considering just how much food is in the experience and what a unique sampling you receive! Truly an unforgettable culinary experience.

Loved it! The food was terrific, and the staff was so kind and patient. The decoration is simple, but it makes the place cozy. There is some space between the tables, so it felt like we had intimacy. We ordered the rijsttafel, the small dishes for dinner. All the dishes were good in their own merit, and the composition made it fun to try everything. Only the beef was a bit dry, but the lamb made up for it by being tender and delicious. I would go back and try a la carte as well as repeat the rijsttafel.

I tried the rijsttafel with my cousin. I would say it’s a lot of food for 2 people. They serve soto as appetizers and then some corn fritters, gado-gado and pickles. And then came the entree. Its a lot of choices. I would say some of them are really great. But some feels like it needs more spices. Though I do think that sometimes it’s a bit hard to find the ingredients and also having to adjust to American’s palate. They also serve pandan jelly and tea at the end. The decorations was very Indonesian. It reminds me of home. Overall it was a good meal when you miss home.

I came two times so far. I loved it so much the first time that I came here on my birthday. It's really good and it's a HALAL place to eat. Also if you enjoy food that hurts you back, COME HERE. The both times I've come here there weren't many customers so this place is EXTREMELY underrated. I love Thai food so I really wanted to try Indonesian food because of their similar dishes and spices but this place is now in my top favorites, even beating Thai food I've had because I was able to try new dishes I've never had before. Their soups are really good, especially this yellow soup I had with soybean(I'll edit the name in), their chicken satay and corn fritters were really good too, I can't remember but everything I had in these pictures were enjoyed. 11/10 peanut and sambal sauce- the spice in their food was amazing too. I came here a couple months ago so I don't remember the specific foods I ate but everything I ordered was good.

The most Authentic Indonesian food you can find in New York! Soto Ayam was spot on. Rijsttafel was a good value for the money with great selection. Enak Sekali ! I’m from Jakarta so I know my food and this restaurant makes me feel like home. Can’t wait to go back to try their Ketoprak!

The rice table is 15 dishes. It includes soup, salads, appetizer and an array of meat dishes. We sat at a table outside. It was a beautiful evening, the street isn't very busy, perfect ambiance. The service was great. All of the dishes were excellent. The soup had so much flavor. The sauce with the lamb had a touch of cinnamon and was delicious. I've been to many restaurants that offer rice table, most in Netherlands, and Java was one of the best. I don't live in NY but Java will get a return visit next time I'm in NY.
